An Integrated Art Hotel Experience
The Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art at Rollins College is, at once, a collection with a point of view and a lens on the art of our time—engaging questions of social history, civic-mindedness, international affairs, and philanthropy. A work in progress, the collection is the brainchild of Barbara and Theodore Alfond (R’68), noted collectors and longstanding patrons of the arts.
The works in the Alfond Collection are accessioned into the permanent collection of the Rollins Museum of Art and are curated, interpreted, and stewarded by the Museum’s professional staff in accordance with the highest standards of museum practice. The works are installed throughout The Alfond Inn, extending the Museum’s reach beyond its galleries and into the daily life of the campus and broader community.
Conceived as a visual syllabus reflecting the liberal arts values the Alfonds embraced at Rollins, the collection advances a curatorial narrative grounded in critical thinking, visual literacy, expanded perspectives, and cross-cultural understanding. Through its emphasis on language, identity, and global awareness, the collection invites sustained engagement with the ideas that shape contemporary life.
