An Integrated Art Hotel Experience

The Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art ROLLINS MUSEUM OF ART, Rollins College

Art Around the Hotel

The Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art at Rollins College is, at once, a collection with a point of view and a lesson in the art of our times, social history, civic-mindedness, international affairs, and philanthropy. A work in progress, the collection is the brainchild of Barbara and Theodore Alfond (R'68), noted art collectors and several patrons of art institutions. Most of the Alfond Collection is installed at The Alfond Inn.

The collection was conceived as a visual syllabus for the liberal arts values the Alfonds learned at Rollins and which shaped not only their student years but the rest of their lives. The curatorial narrative revolves around notions of critical thinking; literacy; enlarging one’s perspective; understanding other cultures and traditions; and language.

Happy Hour Art Tours

Meet us in the hotel lobby for a tour with a Rollins Museum of Art staff member every first Wednesday of the month, which lasts about 60 minutes. Don't forget to grab a beverage and take advantage of Hamilton's Kitchen's happy hour specials! Drinks are available for purchase before, during, and after the tour. This event is open to all ages, but 21+ for those consuming alcohol.

All non-hotel guests must register for a free ticket here.

Barbara and Ted Alfond, along with independent curator Abigail Ross Goodman, have selected and purchased to date over 300 paintings, photographs, sculptures and mixed media works by established and emerging contemporary artists from around the world. The works were donated to Rollins College and are part of the permanent collection of the Rollins Museum of Art.

About Stained Glass*

Designed by Boston-based stained glass artist Daniel Maher for The Alfond Inn at Rollins. It represents the four seasons:
Fall – North
Winter – East
Spring – South
Summer – West
The center represents a luscious garden. Some of the red glass is pieces of Tiffany glass. The Four Seasons is also a subject often used by Tiffany.
