Top Hotel in the World by Travel + Leisure
The Alfond Inn at Rollins has been singled out as one of The Top 100 Hotels in the World by the readers of Travel + Leisure in the World’s Best Awards 2017. The 112-room independently-owned boutique hotel in historic Winter Park was also ranked in the impressive #2 position among The Top 15 City Hotels in the Continental United States.
This award suggests a growing trend, as travelers move beyond brand name luxury properties and seek out independent boutique hotels that have both a strong sense of locale and art collections that make a stay even more memorable.
The Alfond Inn at Rollins is owned by Rollins College and is the only hotel in the U.S. that serves as the extension of a fine arts museum, showcasing The Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art, a 300-plus piece collection of contemporary art that was assembled and donated to The Cornell Fine Arts Museum by Rollins alumni Barbara and Ted Alfond. The hotel is also distinguished by its philanthropy, as profits are used to fund college scholarships to Rollins College.
“We are thrilled to be recognized once again by the discriminating readers of Travel + Leisure,” said Jesse Martinez, General Manager of The Alfond Inn at Rollins. “This is a great recognition for a boutique hotel like ours, especially one that has placed art at the forefront of the guest experience, and I congratulate our entire hardworking team.”
The hotel was also singled out this week when it received its first Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for Hamilton's Kitchen, where sommelier David Pennisi oversees the cellar.
Travel + Leisure's annual World’s Best Awards recognize the best destinations, hotels, resorts, spas, cruise lines, and tour and safari operators around the world, based on a survey of the publication’s readers.
